What is the Children’s Ministry all about?
The Children’s Ministry helps kids learn about salvation and the basics of living as God’s child. It tries to fill vital spiritual needs in the lives of children. It is intended that the volunteer Sunday school teacher shall likewise grow through serving, loving and teaching a group of small children.
The Children’s Ministry started with a handful of kids comprising only one group. Now we have several.
- Primary - 4 to 7 years old
- Intermediate - 8 to 12 years old
Using departmentalized method of teaching, each group had a separate curriculum. The Children’s Ministry is using as teacher’s guide books carried by the Philippine Christian Education Publication.
What are the objectives of the Children’s Ministry?
The Children’s Ministry aims on disciplining and equipping children by proclaiming the gospel and simplifying Scripture to the understanding of young children. In doing so, the Children’s Ministry expands to involve parents, teachers, church leaders, the congregation, and the community in nourishing babes in Christ and influencing kids to walk in godly ways.
What do you do in Children’s Ministry?
Volunteer teachers are assigned combinations of tasks herein listed:
- Lead the pupil to know and love God and His work.
- Lead the Bible Study in the class.
- Prepare a list of pupils.
- Complete the Sunday school class records each week.
- Cooperate with the Sunday school head.
- Collect and entrust the kids’ offerings to the Finance Committee.
- Attend the Sunday school teacher and workers’ meeting.
- Participate in study courses, workshops and other study opportunities.
- Pay attention that the Sunday school environment is clean, conducive for study.
- Train Sunday schoolers as little teachers.

What do you require to be a member in this Ministry?
A volunteer teacher must be a member. His/her love of God must be evident, especially in showing love for children. To a degree, he or she must have the teaching skills and abilities and familiarity with God’s word.
How long is the apprenticeship before becoming a member?
At least 3-4 Sunday school meetings. During the first and second Sundays of teaching, the Children’s Ministry head will take the lead while the apprentice teacher takes on secondary role to ensure the latter’s readiness to teach by himself or herself next time.
What are the privileges of becoming a member?
By becoming a teacher in the Children’s Ministry, you can experience the deep satisfaction of knowing you have influenced a life for Jesus Christ. Kids in the church need to know that someone cares for them. And in serving, your own life will grow as well.
